Hi, I’m Rachael dancinbutterfly and I’ll be looking for with 9 actors to be the POV characters (at a later date I will also be looking for at least 1 actor who would be willing to play the minor characters although more will be welcome)on a 50,000 word multi-voice Bandom podfic. Dont get intimidated! The number of people and the narrative distribution will allow for private time to work on your own and really spread out the word count.

What's the story?
You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison by me, dancinbutterfly, and is written third person limited omniscient point of view of 9 people inside a maximum security prison, along with other less central characters. The story is on LJ and here

What's the author's summary of the story? (characters will get a strike-through as assigned)
The Decaydence: that’s what the inmates call the D Block of Janick State Correctional Facility. The Decaydance is full of your garden variety mobsters, gangsters, pimps, drug dealers, crazy cult leaders, murderers, and other dangerous offenders. What people appear to be isn’t necessarily who they are but all that matters is reputation, how they stay alive and where they fall on the Decaydance food chain.

What's your summary of the story?
I AM the author so I’m going to leave it at that and talk about the tricky bits instead. This is a shifting POV story that I wrote a couple years ago and it deals with some heavy material - its set in prison so there’s violence, references to non-con, on screen consent issues, prison drug culture and other prison machinations. For me this is a story about how people come together and connect with each other in the most bizarre, horrible and beautiful ways. The main romantic pairings of this fic are Gerard/Brian, Pete/Patrick, and Bob/Ryan. I planned the first two and the third one snuck up on me and managed to rearrange the entire structure of the story which proved my own point. I also chose this one because there is no single narrator (all of the 9 main players narrator their own sections) and shifts it leaves room for us to wiggle around - if you the actor have issues with content, word order, etc, you can actually TALK TO ME about it and we can work on it.

And a note on auditioning: Auditioning only takes 5–10 minutes, and the success of this project is gong to be depend largely on the number of auditions, so if you are interested at all in the possibility of participating in a theatrical, directed, multi-voice podfic, please consider auditioning. I know that it can be intimidating thinking about the possibility of auditioning and *not* getting cast, but please keep in mind that

a) You can increase your chances by auditioning for as many productions as you want (you will only be cast in one, so by auditioning for more you can up your chances without risking overburdening yourself with a ton of projects).

b) Whether you are cast or not is going to be based entirely on the director's vision for the production and on what actors they think will work well off each other. It has zero to do with any judgment about your skill. If you were not cast, it would not be about being not good enough or being judged not good enough. This is just about whether what you have to offer happens to tie in with what the director is looking for and with what the other actors who audition have to offer. And you might be the perfect person for a role based on those things. So if you'd enjoy being cast, please take 10 minutes and throw your hat in the ring, and then trust the directors to do what's best for their vision of the production, without it being in any way a reflection on who is and is not "good" in some objective way! (which, as you know, in podfic fandom, is not really a concept we put a lot of weight on in the first place :D).
